Annual Boat Show

Here’s an update from the 2018 Antique and Classic Boat Show Chair, Mike Gridley:
Look who’s coming to the show! Aurelie – a 1956 Duke Special. In 1952 a set of plans for a 20’ Vee-bottom hull was purchased from the legendary John Hacker. A very small number of these 20 footers were built from the Hacker plans.
In 1956, at the top of their game, Duke stretched the plan out to 22’ and built two exceptional craft: one for John Black Aird, who went on to become Ontario’s 22nd Lt. Governor, and was a member of the Order of Canada, and this one, the Aurelie, that was built for Gerald P. Dunn, founder of Dunn’s Pavilion, later to be known as the Kee to Bala.
This boat features a marvelous design and a rich history and is rare with only two examples ever having been built. Today the boat features modern power that propels the hull effortlessly, and reliably. The bottom is as-new, and the boat resides in a boathouse on Lake Muskoka.
Put the Boat Show on July 6-8 2018 on your calendar. It is always the first weekend in July every year.
